September 11, 2001
As you know each week we reserve this page to display moments from the story of Sonny Corinthos and Alexis Davis. This week will be different, for it is the first anniversary of the September 11th attack on America. It is an especially difficult week for both SonnyandAlexisGal and I because we live here in New York, and we were maybe a couple of miles away from the World Trade Center dropping our kids off at school, having just left that area when we heard the second plane hit the twin towers. SonnyandAlexisGal works downtown across the street from Ground Zero and was thankfully late for work on that morning. We will never forget the smell of the burning buildings, the sadness all over the city, the memorials, not to mention having to keep ourselves together to be strong for our children. So without great detail we can only tell you how difficult it's been for all of us, but we know not as difficult as it has been for those who lost relatives, friends, and not only in New York but all over the world. It has changed us forever. So we decided that we had to acknowledge this anniversary and use our first page this week to light a candle of hope, hope and prayer for all of us.
We'd like to encourage all on this anniversary to reflect, reflect on what is important, what matters and to practice one random act of kindness in memory of the people who lost their lives. Do one nice thing for someone you know or don't know. This is the way to pay our respects and work towards a better quality of life for us all.
